Hella Jongerius: Polder Sofa for Vitra

12-5-jongerius1.jpg

Known primarily for her ceramics, Hella Jongerius has branched off into furniture design with the Polder Sofa for Vitra. We had seen pictures of the sofa and thought it a bit odd until we had a chance to try it out yesterday at the Conran Shop. In person, the proportions are perfect and very comfortable. The details that Hella is known for show up in the contrasting textures of the cushions and the embroidered buttons of natural materials...

If I had the room (the sofa is quite long), I would consider it! —aaron

Oh, the day when I'll be able to buy a mismatched $9.5K sofa.

But for the money you get a sculpture and a sofa in one!

It is about time someone had fun with materials and form in the sofa format.

I wish there was a 60" version even though I wouldn't be able to afford it.

Has anyone made a knockoff of this sofa?
