Jens Risom Rocker from Design Within Reach

Last autumn, the DWR Design Studio announced their first collaboration with legendary designer Jens Risom. Furthering that partnership, Jens is following his bench, chair and ottoman with a new upholstered rocker with a distinct Danish modern look true to his roots (and the DWR customer).

The new rocker has a walnut frame and is beautifully balanced and comfortable — I had a chance to try one recently and was surprised at how sturdy it is. Though the footprint is rather large at a little under 3' x 3', this is normal for any quality rocker.

The Risom Rocker is stocked in Tiger Lily and Lychee Maharam Milestone upholstery — but can be customized with DWR's new custom upholstery program. The Risom Rocker is $1,600 - $1,680 and exclusive to DWR.

If you're looking for a modern rocker at a lower price point, be sure to check out IKEA's new POANG rocker. Though it is still not online, I tried one last weekend at the Brooklyn IKEA and was really impressed with the comfort level and aesthetics! The POANG rocker is $179 at IKEA.

Love this rocker - adding it to my "I can dream" list.

bepsf, thanks for posting the link to eamesloft.com - they have some really great pieces, and totally reasonable prices. Does anyone know of a comparable shop in Chicago? Thanks!

karenenen--

Yes, he has great items and his prices are very reasonable - probably since he doesn't have a storefront. Like many others, he works out of his garage and sells via his website, eBay and Craigslist (which is how I found him)

I hope you find a similar resource in your area!

I am disturbed by the fact that the "step" in the back cushion doesn't match up with where the arms are - it looks like the cushions are from another seat - they don't do justice to the beautiful frame

We have a nice rocker that is priced inbetween those 2 rockers you mentioned. The monte Alto Rocker. Very comfortable and modern.
