My Beautiful Backside Sofa by Nipa Doshi and Jonathan Levien

6-6-backside-1.jpg

We're thrilled to have stumbled across these images of the new seating collection from Nipa Doshi and Jonathan Levien — My Beautiful Backside. Manufactured by Italian company Moroso, the work evolved from the idea of many, many cushions in multiple shapes and styles and was inspired by a painting...

Is it just me or is this sofa just ridiculously hideous?

I can't decide whether I find this ugly or beautiful. I think I'm swayed on the side of beautiful (my first thought was OH MAN THAT'S NICE) but I'm not a fan of the smaller patterned cushions.

I think the one thing that is saving the sofa are the varied throw pillows on it. Without them the sofa wouldn't work at all. But I do wish they incorporated the same patterns to the back of the sofa. Oh and I hate those little brass feet.

the feet are a disappointment. . . but I really like the sofa, with or without the pillows.

I think they're cool, but could use chunkier feet. They seem visually top-heavy.

Jon-
No, it's not you. This sofa is heinous.

Does't look too comfortable to sit on for any length of time. I'm not liking the feet either.

I don't really care for the feet, but I can get past them. I love the rest of the design.

I dig the animae vibe which is mostly due in part to the pilllows. Can't imagine it beign comfortable and the feet need to be reimagined.

It looks like several suitcases. It even has the zipper-look edging. Guess it's for those who love to live out of a suitcase.

This belongs in a futuristic airport lounge designed in the 60's. I love it.

I think the feet are supposed to be reminiscent of lotus blossoms. That's what they look like to me.

I thought at first these were reworked seats from old cars. Interesting concept.

I would never buy a sofa without arms for my house.

For an office waiting room, maybe.

I can't hate on anything that Doshi Levien do...I just love them. Although the original painting does look more comfortable.

There are too many pillows. We don't mind the feet. We're in agreement with the person who said it was futuristic as in a 1960s airport lounge.
