Norberto Delfinetti's 3400 Flip Sofa Bed

5-7-flip1.jpg

Modern Sofa Bed! We get so many requests and questions concerning sofa beds that we knew ATers would appreciate this one. The 3400 Flip designed by Norberto Delfinetti and produced by Vibieffe, this sofa bed is modern and most importantly, doesn't look like a sofa bed!...

We're guessing this is in the $5,000 - $8,000 range. Here is a list of US Retailers. In New York, try Maurice Villency.

it's really pretty but the back is just too low for me. my current sofa has a similar design and i wish i could step back in time, i would have never purchased it!

That is exactly what I have been looking for - but way out of my price range. Anyone know of any cheaper alternatives? And has anyone tried the Room and Board sleeper sofas?

I'm in the market for an affordable modern sleeper sofa, as well, so I'd love any suggestions. I'm just beginning my search.

We're looking at the AU Furniture sleeper sofas. Comfy mattresses (no bars), fairly modern look, and not bank-breaking at around 2-3K. www.aufurniture.com

I cannot say enough good things about the AU sleeper sofas. We bought the medium-sized one (with two big cushions) in a gray faux-suede and we absolutely LOVE it. I think we spent around 2K for it. It's great as a couch, very comfy, and everybody who has slept on it says it's fantastic. (Haven't tried it ourselves, although maybe we should...) They have a number of different designs but they all incorporate the "no bar" mattress that makes it a real bed. A friend who lives in a studio is considering buying one to use on a daily basis.

In NYC they're sold at Jensen-Lewis on 6th Avenue -- they don't have all the different models in the store, but they have enough to give you a good idea.

I looked for a really long time for a good-looking sofa that didn't scream sleeper and bought this sleeper sofa from Jensen-Lewis with (metal legs instead of the ugly wooden ones) and in a dark charcoal color.
It's much more modern than it looks in the photo below and I always get compliments on it. If anyone wants a picture, I'll take one tonight and email it.

We customized a sleeper sofa with bassett furniture recently. We are waiting on the delivery (30 days turnaround). With track arms and button-tufted back pillows, you can have a somewhat modern sleeper sofa. You can choose from thousand of fabrics.

We did ours with a queen bed, delivery and a scotchguard treatment for $2K.

I saw a sleeper sofa at BoConcept this weekend that looked quite good. Not sure about the comfort for sleeping, but I couldn't tell it was a sleeper when I sat on it closed.

WIEDER is a surprise - in spite of its minimalist looks it offers excellent comfort, thanks to high quality filling and wooden slats in the seat. Roomy and comfortable while not taking up too much space. Even more surprising is the ease with which the sofa converts into a double bed. http://www.wiederusa.com/
