Dear AT,
It's official - there's nowhere to sit in our living room.
Guests are afraid of the fatboy, and the couch is too small and rigid.
Can this purple Ikea number work in a room with a blue dhuri rug (with white pattern) and cherry-wood furniture?
Thanks! Charlotte

I've got a purply couch and it surprisingly works like a neutral. Goes with all of my zillion throw pillow/art/rug changes I've made over the last year. The above looks great. I love the idea of blue and white dhuri and cherry wood.

We just bought two of a similar Tylosand sofas in this purple color for our living room with dark cherry veneer flooring and light yellow/golden walls, with an accent wall of deep orange. It's a little crazy, but so am I. I agree that the purple is probably the most neutral element when set against multiple colors.

purple rocks. it goes really well with dark blue, too. seems cheesy but it really isnt.

A friend of mine has this exact sofa in this exact color and while SHE isn't crazy about it (I think she would prefer one of those MCM bench type numbers) I think it looks great. It seats a ton of people and is super comfortable. They have dark wood floors and different shades of wood furniture and over all their aesthetic is modern and clean.
It's not really all that purple-y up close, in my opinion. It's got a lot of greyish brown undertones making it very neutral and versatile.
