Modernica surprises. The Mid-C Modern die hard has caught our attention (and a few client's) this past week with a new version of this classic sofa design. We actually don't know if the wood version is new, but we've never seen it before. Replacing the cold, hard, shiny steel, with soft (on the eye), warm, rich walnut, their Split Rail Sofa is a real beauty.

Wow! It's nice to see this rare design re-issued! I used to have a vintage set with the wooden frame but sold it a while back. I think it's so much warmer in feeling than the metal split rail pieces.
Chromed furniture makes me sad. I already have a couch that I like a lot, but if they sold the chair in walnut I'd be very tempted to buy one or two.
Agreed that wood frames look better on the classic Florence Knoll designs. About a year ago, I was able to buy a vintage 1206 with a walnut base instead of chrome. It adds so much warmth to the design.
