Surefit Stretch Suede Slipcovers

03.26.surefit2.jpg

The first time we saw Surefit Stretch Suede Slipcovers we were pretty doubtful. But the thought of them stuck, we've reexamined them, and we think they could save someone frustrated with sloppy, shifting, saggy slipcovers.

03.26.surefit.jpgThese are made with 13% spandex and have an elastic edging that pulls them snuggly around shaped furniture. It's available in a dark warm gray and a color called Oatmeal, which is what's shown in these photos. The cover for a sofa is priced at $130.

87% polyester / 13% spandex...
anybody seen/touched these things in person and able to rate the cheesey factor of the fabric?
Looks great as anti-pet-fur protection . . .

I used to have one of these on an old goodwill sofa in my immediate post college apartment. It was really great because you didn't have a huge excess of fabric that you had to tuck in all over the place and retuck constantly. Like any slip cover, you will have to re-tuck it but not nearly as much as a regular cover. I washed it several times in our home washer and it held up well and came out looking new and soft.

Mine got a little saggy in the seat but my sofa was very narrow so I think on regular overstuffed type sofa like the one shown, you'd be fine.

I'd suggest it.

I have one of these and it looks good, until you sit and stand several times and it comes untucked. The static cling is terrible! Our apartment is very dry and the static is awful, so everything from cat hair to god knows what has stuck to it and the vacuum just makes it worse. I've washed it twice and it's come out fine. It doesn't, however, agree with cat claws as they get easily stuck to it!

Jaime, that does look like a problem this type of fabric would have (attracting pet hair, lint etc.). I keep stubbornly buying textured cotton slipcovers of various types every two years or so, and I like them OK despite the hassles...but if I did the math I'm sure I could have purchased new sofas by now!
