Hello AT,
It's sad, very sad.
My beloved pups ate every end of both of my Eames rocker feet.
Do you guys know where I can find replacements?
DWR doesn't seem to know and I haven't heard back from Herman Miller yet...
Thanks! Jeannie

Ebay tends to have them for sale and try Modernica.

i would be persistent with herman miller.
I'm actually going to be near their headquarters in Zeeland this coming weekend, you want me to go and harass them a bit?

Modernica sells them. You can buy just the bases for $125 to $150.

I'm pretty sure that both DWR and Herman Miller know that you can order the bases at Modernica. It seems that they just aren't willing to part with that information for fear of competition. That's a shame.

naughty pups! The most expensive thing my dog has ever ruined was a baseboard.

Yup - Modernica or Ebay.
My pup ate through a solid wood door! With training, they grow out of the chewing but the first year can be expensive.

There's this product called "Bitter Apple". It's a spray that apparently tastes pretty bad and it helps discourage puppies from chewing on things they aren't supposed to be knawing on. The spray smells a little bit when you spray it, but that goes away, and it isn't sticky or anything. I highly suggest it.

I feel your pain. During her first two years, my lab Georgia chewed threw literally thousands of dollars of stuff. Bitter apple can help. They also make a bitter lime gel that has a bit more staying power, but I'm not sure about putting it on nice furniture.

I have 2 modernica rocking bases and one from a guy I found on ebay.
I prefer the one I found on ebay because it has 90 degree sides like the original, the modernica one is rounded like a pontoon on a boat.
Also the ebay one is cheaper.
It's been over 2 years, so I'm not sure if this is the same guy I bought from.
I am very pleased with mine. Good Luck

I second bitter apple, it kept our pup away from the electrical cords he was so fond of. I never had it stain anything. The rockers are finished, correct?
Then, to make yourself feel better maybe a mock lecture for the dogs about "why we can't have nice things".

In addition to discouraging your pup from chewing on inappropriate things (bitter apple is great), make sure that they have something acceptable to chew on and direct their attention toward it. This is doubly important for teething pups.

You should also be able to order them through your local Herman Miller dealer as a service part. You can look them up at http://www.hermanmiller.com/CDA/SSA/Locator/1,,a4-c498,00.html
