4-5-get9.jpgDied and gone to heaven. That's how we felt when we found this place. Who knew that such a treasure trove existed within striking distance of NYC?

Tipped off this week to Get Back Inc, we spent the better part of an hour trolling through their beautifully refurbished lamps, tables, chairs and oddities, many of which has "sold" written on them. Not to worry, however, as they have 20,000 s/f of filled warehouse space in addition to what you see above....

Started in 2000 by Irish cabinet/furniture makers experienced in "old world" craftsmanship, Get Back Inc is all about finding great vintage pieces and transforming them back into fully functional furniture. They seem to have done their work well and the variety and number they have assembled is remarkable. Our favorites are the immense drafting tables and the fully articulated French lamps.

Prices are not listed or known, but with a slick site like this, don't expect a steal. (Thanks, Carly!)

Maxwell, what a wonderful find. This is just amazing, now where could I put that 7 ft. pattern mold?

Wow - I had forgotten about those folks. I bought an excellent condition McCobb Planner Group Desk and chair from them as well as a very rare set of Jens Risom lounge chairs.

But that was like 4 years ago at least. Its a really cool place. The guy that owns the place, from what I recall, is an Irish cabinetmaker. His son had moved back home and was into midcentury and industrial vintage stuff. They scour everywhere for the goodies and due to their location, offer reasonable prices compared to what you'd pay in NYC or Boston.

They used to also sell some of their stuff via eBay, but you have to go to their store to pick up or wait for delivery for whenever they happen to be in the City.

Yesterday my fiancée and I made the trip out to Oakville, Ct (just outside of Waterbury) to visit Get Back Inc. Amazing! In addition to the great things shown at the website there are several more giant rooms filled with cool stuff that’s yet to be refurbished. There are too many great things to mention and besides you’ve got to see it for yourself. Even the showroom is worth seeing.

We called ahead to make an appointment, which I would definitely recommend. Tim, the owner, showed us around and explained where many of the things came from and the work that goes into refurbishing them. Then he left us to explore! Both he and his son work on site and couldn’t be nicer or more helpful. Some pieces are pricey, but there are also more reasonably priced things … and even if you don’t buy something its worth the trip. We bought an adjustable height cart and a wooden wheel pattern. Great place, great service. (Tim also gave us directions to a nice lunch spot up the road)

I just visited the store and got a lamp from them! It was an amazing place and I have never met nicer people. I love my lamp. They were beyond nice and it was easy to find. I also made an appointment. I would also say it is VERY much worth the trip! They even went so far as to offer me coffee and carry the lamp out to the car for me because it was really heavy. I love Get Back Inc!
