I would worry that no one would know, without being explicitly informed, that those are fire extingquishers. When I first saw them I thought they were water bottles. That would be dangerous in a situation where you'd want to use them! But they're attrctuve; I like them.

These are wonderful, they, just blend into the décor, match with the wallpaper exactly, like what all fire extinguishers should do...does the smoke detector scream a Donna Summer hit in your ears while you run for safety outside?

Yeah, I don't know...they're cool and all, but if someone who doesn't live in your house is there and a fire starts, will they automatically go for the Disco Nalgene Bottle?

Is the pet-sitter going to automaticaly know that these are fire extinguishers when the Jiffy-Pop explodes in a ball of flames? Will your houseguest think that it's just a fancy seltzer bottle when it's time to make a Gin & Soda?

In addition, there are international standards for colors of fire extinguishers (or their labels) which signifies the type of contents and how they are meant to be used. Silver signifies a water-filled extinguisher which you should never use on a grease fire, Yellow extinguishers are used for combustible metals. A Blue circle denotes that it's safe for use on an electrical fire, a Green triangle is used for burning garbage, and a Red Square is for combustible liquids such as grease fires.

Except for those that have pictographs and words indicating "Fire Extinguisher" - This is just a bad idea wrapped up in a waste of money.

I think a fire extinguisher with some decor style would make people more prone to keep them available for quick use. Great idea.

It's like a SIGG bottle turned into a fire extinguisher. Call me crazy, but I prefer my emergency equipment to look like emergency equipment.

I must say that when you hire a pet-sitter, babysitter, house guests etc. your job is to let people know about emergency exits and location of first-aid kit and even the fire extinguisher.

On that note, I find that the New York buildings that I have lived in do not have fire extinguishers so to have one in the house AND decorated makes it much easier, safer and trendy. I say bravo and where can I get one to keep my apt. from burning down in the event of my next door neighbor's grease fire!

Usually when people need an fire extinguisher, homeowner, renter or house sitter is it easy to find because it is easily identified as a fire extinguiisher.

There is a time and place for aesthetics and design. The realm of safety equipment is not one.

I agree MilenaB! if someone is left unattended in your house, wouldn't you tell them where the fire extinguisher was if you had one? It isn't really any different than if you hire a babysitter and leave them with emergency information. I think they are awesome, but are they pricey?

If I had one of these, it would definitely be part of the "tour"! When people come over, they tend to ask about various things and I volunteer information about other things, and I would be showing them that.

No... it would NOT be a mystery where I would keep that, and by the way.... I want the checker-board one. NOW! Maintenant! Toute de suite!

safety items should be standard and functional and universally understood.

Silly and potentially unsafe.
