One humble offering... I have a water closet off my kitchen that serves as a makeshift tool shed. This photograph is on the interior door. It was a gift of the photographer (my friend Sue) and was snapped along a road somewhere in upstate New York. We owe a debt to whoever did the graffitti...is it anyone posting here? I particularly like how she framed it, on a piece of rusty speckle enamel tin.

Fantastic!
I love it. But I'm not surprised, since I loved your bathroom, too. (I sort of thought this would be kind of a repeat bathroom post.)
love it
I think that "Aesthetic Crime" is a great phrase along the lines of the "Human Cost".
LOVE it!
Awesome (they even spelled aesthetic correctly!)! Love the contrast of the weathered frame/dilapidated house with the clean white door.
yea, love it alright!
Curtis, great comparison.
I'm kind of guess that the house, from the front, was probably a lovely, historical thing, and that whatever neglect or malice led to the fire and general dilapidation was thought to be the "aesthetic crime".
what a sad picture. really makes me feel sorry for that house. like it was once young and beautiful, and this is what it all came down to... cool photo, though. your friend has a good eye.
love it guido!
speaking of aesthetic crimes... it reminds me of a story of my grandmothers about a next door neighbor who started to paint the side of his house, and stopped mid way. She snuck out one night and painted, above the line where he'd stopped, a naked lady. This motivated him to paint a bit more, but only as far up as to cover the breasts. So my grandmother painted the breasts again, higher up. and then again, so that at last they were up around her ears! Eventually he finished painting the house. i wish i had the photograph.
Is this an in-joke kinda thing, 'cause I don't get it.
Guido. . .Love it! Do you think Sue would sell copies? (I'm really serious.)
Jared, I don't get it either. I really don't understand the appeal of this one at all.
me (the first one):
yes, sue is willing to sell prints -
after she digs up that negative
imagine that, a *real* photograph
