Pitch:
The first photo is of 2 pieces. The "Wonderbread chasing Versace in heels" is by David Lachapelle purchased from a NY art dealer Marla Hamburg Kennedy, from Hamburg Kennedy Photographs and the price was $6000.00. In the same photo I also have a "Statue of Liberty" by Peter Max that I purchased in the early 90's, I am unsure of the price but I purchased it from James Cavello of Westwood Gallery.

Pitch:
The second photo is of "The Fertility Suite" by Keith Haring that I also purchased in the 90's. I bought 4 different pieces of the same series which consisted of 5 so I paid approximately $5000.00 for it. The gallery I purchased it from was Westwood Gallery.

I love the kitchen, but the living room is not my thing at all...
Is this an AD? please go sell your corcoran apartment somewhere else. And, please don't subject us to your shitty taste in art and design.....look at this place! What a mess... (click the corcoran link and look at the floorplan)
WHat we have here is another perfect example of rich people with ZERO taste and design sense. Take a good look my friends.
Richard,
Crazy-cool kudos all around. I really like your style and your apartment!
Question for you, could you tell me what the material is on the wall that your fireplace is on? Is that paint or something else?
ouch. I think that's a bit harsh.
Overall I'm with cs, I think your kitchen is amazing (and I don't usually go for minimalist). I love the clean lines and blank palate of white and clear interspersed with the bright splashes of color offered by the artwork. I don't think I like artwork for itself, but I think it works very well in its environment.
However, the living room is not really appealing to me, the colors definitely don't have the same harmony as the kitchen.
The whole things is definitely very 90s though, I can easily picture Whitney Houston (circa "I wanna dance with somebody") here.
I admit it's not going to be everyone's taste, but it has a bold and daring look to it. It's the kind of place you'd see in Miami.
it makes me want to wear a banana clip and some leg warmers!
Wow, I really think some of your comments are uncalled for, Ronnie. Can't you just say it's not to your taste and leave it at that?
cool kitchen . . .
Peter Max 'Liberty' pieces bring out the harsh in people,
and I can't say I mind.
But *I* have a pathological hatred of Peter Max 'Liberty' (even tho Peter Max purple stockings were the bomb in the '70's)
I rather like the bright colorful artwork in the otherwise white space. Not sure I'd be comfortable living in the environment myself.
However I do have to agree with Ronnie that this seems as much an attempt to sell the apartment as a legitimate entry in the contest. It seems inappropriate if not disqualifying. I think there was another enty earlier of an apartment for sale also. Are people getting this desperate to unload their real estate at inflated prices? Has the bubble burst?
I love the kitchen. I wish I could see a close up of the Wonderbread piece. Looks cool. I like Peter Max. I know we've been saturated with his style in the 80s but he is a great talent nontheless. The Living room is a bit dated. Throw out the rug. I think that's what people are responding too in a negative manner. Also imo the living room looks like a corporate office break room when the kitchen shows more personality.
It seems very gaudy and dated to me.
Quick! Somebody should really shoot a period film (about the 1990's) in there before this guy sells! It's so kind of wonderfully typical, it should really be captured. Actually these photos do a good job of that. Whoever buys the apartment will probably do something COMPLETELY different unless they're really looking for a turn-key pied-a-terre.
Kitchen, nice.
Living Room, hmmmm....
this contest has me all confused... i first started by going with the balance of art and interior, then just the art, and now... i don't know. I can't stand this living room, but it truly is a temple to the 90's which is so perfect... that i voted awesome.
i don't know who i am anymore!
Hmm, I am torn between two response to ronnie--
Option 1:
Regardless of whether this is an attempt to sell an apartment or share a personal collection as per the contest solicitation, a REAL person lives here. Please have the decency to act like a real person yourself, even if, in your case, it IS only an act.
Option 2:
Ronnie, you need to get laid.
Kitchen cool - Living Room not so much.
Crazy floor plan - to bad there is no way into the powder room, I guess unless you lower yourself in a-la Mission Impossible.
This interior/art combo does indeed raise an interesting question for me...is it possible to have a "current" interior when so heavily featuring art that was so specifically iconic to an earlier period?
And does art "date"?
danae,
"wanna dance w/ somebody" whitney is totally (exposively good) eighties!
:-)
Amazing... inspiring... life-changing! I don't even know what to say to all this beauty!
Not my thing, but then, you probably wouldn't care for my place, either. Just me, but I feel that this site is for exchanging ideas, giving encouragement and being supportive, so I feel that Ronnie's comments are out of line.
Ronnie - Why so nasty to someone that you've most likely never met and is causing you no harm by showing his apartment? If you don't like it, just say so politely, and don't look at it anymore.
Patrick - I totally agree with both of your statements, and would add a third --- Ronnie needs more fiber in his diet!
.
You can back off on the apartment sale thing, because it has already sold, so please give him a break.
I love the breakfast room/kitchen area, and I wish I could have a better look at the David Lachapelle piece. Do you have a closer photo?
Also, I didn't see on the Corcoran site, what was your selling price? Curious. Thanks.

Oh, I see you also have a great view of 101 Park Avenue. It is an underrated building with a unique footprint that lights up very nicely at night.
.
I love all your David LaChapelle pieces...
