Who was your favorite contestant from the contest?:
This is way too hard... for individual pieces, I loved Jared's Marcel Dzama (even though we can't see it very closely!) and inside-out animals sitting on the floating cubes (a nice way to display those). As far as the idea of using art to complete a look, I like John O's leaning-oh-so-casually-against-the-wall art. Although I would clean those bookshelves off a bit!
I love the tiny chair with the candle on it. It would be great to see how this fits in with the rest of the room, but I love the casual nature of his collection of art and personal objects. I also loved all of the entries where people made their own art. It's great to see so many people getting their hands dirty. I love it!
If you could change one thing in this room and money was no object, what would it be?:
That's an easy one: make the tile match! Oh how I hate those four
different colors of green! Oh how I hate you, floor tile, for being so
slightly yellow while your counterpart on the walls laughs at me in
its vague minty-ness! A pox on the lazy and/or cheap prior homeowner
who replaced only one part of the tile! May you be forced to live
forever in a Thomas Kinkade-themed tract home!
Dana,I like your stuff too. Especially, the Trish Grantham. I saw her work at the last NYC Affordable Art Fair, and let me tell you that her collages were selling for a lot more than $100.
Oh, I sent in a little photo that they didn't post of a new piece I got that I am wanting to include in the bathroom (click for link -- first typed 'clink' which might be a good shortening...).
I'm not sure if I should re-arrange the pictures or if I should just find a new spot. It would be great for the bathroom, as it's painted on the back of a thick piece of plexiglass. Ideas anyone...?
I think that the Te Amo piece is wonderful, but I don't know that it fits with the other pieces in you bathroom. The existing arrangement in your bathroom seems to focus more on nature and ties together well. I would love to see the other art in your apartment, you seem to have a very fun and elegant style.
Thanks for the advice, piiwakitt... i think you are right on. I think I'm itching to put it in the bathroom just because it's so bathroom friendly. I wish I had the wallspace to show off the rest of my art collection.
btw, someone pointed out to me the misplaced modifier in "Dana's tiny bathroom art." Since both the bathroom *and* the art are tiny, I hope I can get away with it, just this once. :)
