2004_9_15_floor.jpgThe luck of the Irish. We have met quite a few flooring guys that are brutes, and who will leave a mess behind after taking care of your floors. Vincent Devaney is not one of them. Trustworthy, flexible and hard working, Vincent's small company has been our go-to flooring solution for the past two years. He will work whenever you need to get the job done (at night, on weekends) and does beautiful work without charging an arm and a leg.

While we have used him for sanding, staining and polyurethaning wood floors, Vinny also installs new wood floors of different types and can handle all your wood flooring needs from repairs to renovations. Since all jobs are different, call him to price out your floor. He will schedule a visit and then give you an estimate within 24 hours... in a great Irish accent. MGR

I just had Vincent Devaney refinish my hardwood floors in Manhattan floor-thru loft. He was prompt, courteous, clean, and most importantly did a phenomenal job. I recommend him without hesitation.

I wish I could add to the praise for Devaney Custom Flooring, but I can't.

The first time I called Mr. Devaney and left a message he didn't call back. I called again several weeks later; this time he returned the call, and we set up a day and time for him to have a look at my floor. He never showed, and I haven't heard from him since.

I suspect he's simply too busy to take on new projects. While I'm sure he does a fine job, I'd rather work with someone who actually wants my business.

I also wish I could add praise for Devaney Custom Flooring but unfortunately our experience, similar to the post above, was not good. My fiance and I tried to set up appointments with him to give an estimate on redoing our flooring no less than five times over the course of three weeks. Each time one of us would take the morning or afternoon off of work to meet him. He never showed for any of the appointments and never called to say he wasn't going to make it.

He seems like a nice guy, but doesn't seem like he is able to take on new projects while juggling his current ones (the unfortunate thing is that he doesn't let you know that when you call to set up appointments!).

I can whole heartedly recommend City Wood Flooring. They're one of the oldest small contractors in the city and they've have done two apartments of mine as well as three of my friends.
They're great guys, who are very professional and after shopping around they're definitely one of the cheapest.
They also work directly with Lumber Liquidators, so you can get good discounts on your materials.

We would hire Vincent again and recommend him in a heartbeat. Just had Vincent install a new hardwood floor, subfloor and soundproofing throughout our apartment. Woodfloor was finished on site. (Apt. was unoccupied at the time). Would echo everything Maxwell says. Vincent is hardworking and trustworthy. Does a meticulous job. Even drove to our offices with the wood samples! He showed up for every meeting and called ahead of time if stuck in traffic. He may be busy, but if you do manage to hire him he's extremely punctual. In addition, he finished our job within two days of his original estimate - contractors who can complete a job on schedule seem to be extremely rare!

Vincent just saved my floors, after another floor guy wrecked them by using the wrong poly. I had only a 1 week window to get them redone before my move in date, and Vincent did an incredible job. He's the best!

We had a great floor refinishing experience with Carlos and his partner Martin (347)234-3597. We have original parquet floors with mahogany inlay and we had them refinished by our GC who basically glopped a bunch of semi-gloss polyurethane on them, which we expressly asked him not to do. Martin and Carlos came to the rescue and did an amazing job dealing with our old parquet, uneven floors and restored faith in two very skeptical clients! They listened to us and understood what we wanted, made sample patches on the floor so that we could see and be sure about our decision and then went to work. They are craftsman, professional, considerate, tidy and very reasonably priced. A really great experience that left us with dreamy parquet floors.
