In and out of the closet. Everyone we know hates California Closets! They are expensive and they aren't particularly creative. But what is your alternative?? Though we haven't used them yet, we like Bill Skinner from Astech Closets (not AZtech, for some reason), and have recommend them because we like to support the local guys. We also think it helps to get a second opinion.
Astech can design and install built-in closet solutions in offices, pantries, bedrooms or laundry rooms as well as straight ahead wall shelving and garage organization (WHO has one of those?) They can do solid shelving, ventilated shelving, wood or veneer.
When you need a closet overhaul, we recommed trying a smaller outfit that is going to be more responsive. And tell Bill we sent you! MGR
I'm a big fan of NewSpace. they're creative and have great quality. They're located in St. Louis but their website says they ship around the country with the right specs.
You've done such a wonderful job on mission organization. Much of the 'afters' on HGTV look like they need redos but the apartment you did for the woman in NYC was a wonderful balance of style and function. Usually I just laugh at all the people willing to pay $3000 for a shoebox in NYC, but your make over was impressive.

Well, I have to say - I've had my first "closet" experience and want to share it - I want to recommend www.ASTECHclosets.com to ANYONE and EVERYONE - DO IT - do it NOW - the amt . of time I've spent re-arranging crap in my closet was an endless chore - NOW - every stinking pair of shoes have a home as well as LONG gowns/coats/sweaters - I will post pics of the before and after if anyone is interested - It was CATHARTIC to have spent a day purging old clothes (donated most to WIN -'women in need' and Dress for Success) - and the rest to thrift stores and the 'street' - well ASTECH closets did an amazing job in the swiftest amount of time - quietly and professionally - They came to my apartment to install this morning - they were in and out and it is perfect!! Bill Skinner at Astech Closets just finished three closets in my home. In addition, he 'built' a pantry from scratch under my stairs. He is extremely professional, reliable, quiet and left my place spotlessly clean. His prices are much more reasonable than California Closets and, since he has many years of experience as a contractor and builder, he is capable of figuring out such unusual requests as building pantries. I am thoroughly satisfied with his work and would highly recommend him. And Fay at his office is just delightful.
If you want custom closets at the best price possible call Anthony's Closets in Long Island @ 631-924-2200- I received price quotes from Astech (who by the way was the most expensive of the 3 quotes I received) I also received quotes from two other well known closed makers in NYC and all three quoted prices that were in excess of $6,000 - (I had my entire apt fitted with custom closets) and Anthony's closets (for the same exact materials) was almost 50% cheaper and they actually gave me all the extra fittings (tie hangers, hooks and valet hook at no extra charge and also installed them within a week. They also do frameless shower enclosures (which I also had done by them at a fraction of what others quoted me. Unfortunately I did not know that they did mirros as well since I already had mine ordered - I didn't want to ask what they would have charged because I am sure it would have been much cheaper that what I was paying.
Bill Skinner and his crew at Astech Closets just installed 4 closets for me, and I LOVE them. They are prompt, fast, they clean up after themselves, and I now have the MOST fabulously organized closets. I wholeheartedly recommend them. After having dealt with so many contractors who don't or can't do what they say they will, it was very refreshing to work with such a professional group. Astech is wonderful. Hire them.
Yeah that's a nice closet but I'm not a big fan of the thin particle board shelf systems. I ordered a closet from speedy closets because they use thick modern looking shelves and the cabinets come pre-assembled. It was about 1/3 the cost california closets quoted me and they delivered it about 4 days after I placed the order.

We had are closets done and had we had Astech, Anthony's Closets, Cal closets and NY custom closets give us an estimate. We ended up going with NY custom closets www.nycustomclosets.com (516)887-5335. They came up with the best layout and I like the idea of them being local. They did a great job and I recommend them to everyone. They actually manufacture the closets vs others who just buy the system from others and just install thats why they offer a lifetime warrenty. We are now planning on moving and we will deffenitly have them come and do our new closets.

I do not usually post anything anywhere on the internet but I just had to this time. Moving to New York City was difficult enough (after living in the Midwest), but downsizing was equally hard. However, Astech Closets helped make my life less claustrophobic. From consultation to installation, everything went smoothly. I had 6 closets where they removed the old shelving, touched up holes & painted , then proceeded to utilize every inch of closet space that I had. The designs were great. What Bill Skinner promised, he delivered with courtesy and professionalism. I think I now have to go buy more “stuff” to put in these closets !!

I called Astech for a consultation. Bill, the owner, did call me back promptly the next day to schedule an appointment for an estimate. However, the earliest day available was a week later which I agreed to, even though every other company was able to accomodate an initial meeting within a day or two of my call. I had read such wonderful comments about the company on this blog I figured it was worth the wait. The day of my appointment came and Bill was a no show. I called within the hour of the appointment to follow-up and now, five days later, am still awaiting the courtesy of a phone call to explain the no show after I waited a week for the appointment. Their work may be good but reliability is critical for me and from what I have experienced so far, I am not impressed.
