Bed Risers for Underbed Storage at Organize.com

01.30.riser2.jpg

Many, many of us use that space under our beds for storage. While there are lots of options for underbed storage, the most common thing we see is the use of bed risers...

As said at Organize.com, raising your bed is the easiest way to create extra storage space. This Bed Riser features a large square base to keep your bed steady. The block can be used under stationary legs or locking wheels to add 5" to 6" of height.

These are made to support a weight of up to 300 pounds and come in black or white.

We use these and have a long bed skirt I made from a sari that covers the whole thing. I love the feeling of having the bed high up and the storage space it provides beneath is amazing.

This reminds me of my college dorm!

I have these because I have way too much stuff and 2 tiny closets and no other storage available, so now I need a step ladder to get out of bed!

However, the only real complaint I have about them is that (probably for stability or other construction reasons) they slope out from the top. They would be way better, and I would stub my toes way less frequently, if they were rectangular or cylindrical, not sloped.

I would think that the weight of 2 full-grown adults, plus the weight of the bed, would definitely be more than 300 pounds, no?

That was my thought too. Do they come in an industrial strength version that can support maybe 500 pounds just for good measure?

Each riser will support 300 lbs., for a total of 1,200 when you use all 4. So you're safe!

I am reassured! Should have clicked through to the set of 4 page before worrying. Thanks!

I don't recommend these. They are not that stable over time. I personally use cinder blocks and, with a long bed skirt, find it to be extremely stable and not an eye-sore.

You can get these at Target or Ikea for $7 for all four

Back when I had a bedroom, I used them for several years... Very practical, added lots of storage space under the bed. I just recently got rid of them after moving to a studio with a pull down bed.

We got these from Ikea for our queen sized bed. They were swell until my husband (a grown, but fit man) jumped on our bed and broke one of the risers.

I got these for my teeny tiny room, and they've created a lot of storage space I didn't have before. I do wish they were a little more attractive though, but they serve the purpose.

We have these wooden ones: http://www.stacksandstacks.com/html/20549_bed-lifters-wood.htm

Not as tall as these plastic ones (we had those before the wood ones) but you can stack the wood ones for a 7 inch lift. We only have one set and can fit tons of stuff under the bed.

Its apparently much better for ones health to sleep at a slight angle with the head of the bed elevated slightly - these risers are perfect for that - just use two under the top legs of your bed for a better nights sleep and better general health
