Drawers to keep you up at night. Saw this over a month ago on the cover of HOME Design for the New York Times Magazine, and couldn't get it out of my head. What is it? Designed by Tajo Remy in 1991 for DROOG Design (founded in 1993 in Amsterdam), this set of drawers is tied together with a strong cord and serves as a reguar chest of drawers. Still available and made only to order, it can be found at MOSS for (gasp) $27,000 and at Unica Home for (small gasp) $16,000. It is such a neat idea, however, and the charm of it is in its apparent simplicity. I could see copying the idea quite easily with a series of wooden file drawers from Ikea, mixed in with others. Of course, easier said than done. Balancing it will be a challenge. If you try it or have tried it, send up a pic. MGR

Looking for a 30 inch wide (not easy to find) dresser for a small space, with great gliding drawers tall enough to put sweaters in, simple lines, in oak, not exhorbitantly expensive. Have people had good luck with Gotham or other custom builders?
Thanks.
