Concealed Cabinet by Iinnovators

Yes, these are framed photos hanging on a wall. But the frame is something special. Check it out after the jump...

Iinnovators has created the Concealed Cabinet, which looks like a frame on the exterior but opens up to a hidden cabinet on the interior. Medicine cabinets often provide this function with a mirror over the sink, but add one of these for extra "built-in" storage in the bathroom. The cabinet door holds a photo or other artwork and behind it are two adjustable beveled glass shelves.

The white version, our favorite, is at a reduced price right now: $260. (Thanks, David!)

love it! I could see that idea expanded into other areas of the house... :)

You could make this in about ten minutes with a regular recessed wall cabinet -- just attach the picture to the door, and voila!

I bet you could buy/find an inexpensive medicine cabinet and use the same in hinges on a frame as a door...for less than $260. Or for that matter, use any size bookcase built into the wall with a frame/s or lightweight mirror used as a door...

I think it would be funny to watch people try to 'straighten' the picture on the wall

Enamorada: your comment makes me second guess this idea... i always hang pictures crooked... if i hung this crooked it would drive me INSANE.

I love this idea, but i'd likely hack it myself.

I already have one peice of art in my bedroom that isn't umm... family friendly that I hide when my mother comes to visit once a year... maybe i should build myself one of these so i can hide other mother unnaproved items. I already had a scare when she wanted a closer look at my "big jewlery box" .... shudder.

I was going to grab about five of these for my dining room, but then I saw the price... $260??? Holy cow!

I agree with the posters above--love the idea, but hack it!!

I have a large oval mirror in the bathroom that hides a medicine cabinet. You just would never expect that it was a cabinet because the mirror is so much larger than what it conceals that there are no hinges and it doesn't stick out from the wall.

In fact, I lived in the house for months before I noticed it was a cabinet when cleaning the mirror. I thought I had accidentally pulled it off the wall and panicked momentarily trying to catch it before I saw what it concealed.

It certainly keeps looky-loos from stealing a peek at the contents if you're the only one who knows it's there!

i was thinking the same thing. A recessed medicine cabinet is cheap like $10 used. A large wooden frame from IKEA is $20. Sounds like a cool project.

If you go to the website, you get to see how one person decided to use the concealed cabinet in HIS BEDROOM for TWO HANDGUNS. Wow, wouldn't want to sleep with that guy. I agree that this is a great DIY project...m

I actually saw this site a while ago and thought it was great. We have a tiny guest bathroom in our condo and purchased a dark frame. But not after trying to "hack it" myself. I went to a bunch of places to look at medicine cabinets that I could rip the door off and put a frame in its place. All I can say is "good luck" to you people who think it's going to be an easy job. You could probably do a ghetto version but it's going to turn out ugly. We love the one we have and the guy I spoke with was very nice and professional. The only negative about this is we're always showing it off, which defeats the purpose of it hiding our junk.
