Eek Dresser

Fascinated with Dutch design, I keep returning to Moooi. There are so many innovative ideas with striking execution. The Eek Dresser by Piet Hein Eek is a new obsession. The body is powder-coated steel covered with a vinyl wallpaper. Very modern and sleek, with a nod to the Baroque. Priced at thousands of dollars, I can easily see this re-imagined in the future developments of Brocade Home or West Elm.

That is great. I like the sleek lines contrasting with the design of the paper.

I wonder if this could be a DIY project....the trick would be making sure the paper 1) stays on and 2) doesn't fray when you open and close it. hmmm.

This is beautiful!

As far as DIY, for a similar look you could always stencil the design on.

If anyone's done this kind of all-over stenciling on their furniture, I'd love to see photos.

I would think if you seal the piece with a quality tough varathane, your problem would be solved...just don't wrap the edges like a present...hold it back less than a 1/16th of an inch...to all appearances it will look like it goes to the edge but w/o the problem of fraying/and/or sticking....love the idea too. You could also stencil directly with either a sprayer or by hand...depending on your look...spraying being a little sleeker...whereas hand applied more "old world" in feeling....post your pics when you do!!!
