Imelda Modular Shoe Storage

1-29-maude-storage.jpg

I've been patiently waiting for a delivery of my own pair of Xavier Pauchard's Classic Cabinets and the Imelda modular storage from Zurich-based Michael Mettler would be a great replacement if they never arrive...

Each modular unit of Imelda is made of sheet metal sides and metal shelves. (Individual shelves are removable to create room for boot storage.) When stacked, the units retain their small footprint but take great advantage of vertical space.

The top of Imelda is a plywood bench. A single unit functions well as a place to put on your shoes...

The sheet metal structure is magnetic, offering additional storage with magnetic hooks and miniature shelves. (Like the ones from Muji!). Via: swissmiss.

Cool. Can I "borrow" some money from my government and buy the Imelda?

Note on the website: you have to put in an inquiry to get the price.

While the storage solution is nice, what really sells it is the clever name.

I'm guessing the answer is "too much" if they won't even publish the price on their website, but does anyone know how much these cost?

This is a fantastic solution to my shoe storage dilemma. It shouldn't be that hard to make as a DIY project. Although I'm sure the container store will probably come out with something similar in a few months or so.

Or you can get these from The Container Store now; they also come in a larger size for boots, sneakers, etc.
They are stackable. I've seen them in the store, realize I need a lot of them, and put them back because even at $7.99 a piece it adds up!
