New Smaller EXPEDIT Shelf from IKEA

2-3-expedit-small.jpg

Probably IKEA's most popular furniture series, EXPEDIT has welcomed a new addition to its family of simple grid-based shelving and storage — the 2x2 EXPEDIT. The smallest in the series, this new 2x2 unit can also be hung on a wall — a new option for EXPEDIT enthusiasts...

We like the idea of using several of these small EXPEDITS as stackable modular units for customized shelving (plus it would be easy to move!).

The 2x2 EXPEDIT is currently available in white or black-brown for $60.

Fantastic! Could make good side tables, depending on your chair, bed, couch height. I [heart] Expedit.

Bought one Sunday in "birch effect", so add one color to your list.

(Also got 2 of the 2x4 versions with drawer inserts and doors -- it will be a BUSY week!)

do any owners of this shelf know the dimensions of the interior of the shelves?
are they large enough to fit 12" LPs? (records)??

antimatt - They fit records perfectly. We bought one specifically to house my fiance's massive collection.

sweetchuck, great point. I've got two of the 2x4 Expedits laid horizontally with a big drafting table top on top as a fantastic standing worktable. It's fantastic.

antimatt, the interiors of the cubes take 13"x13" inserts, just to get specific.

OMG yes! that's just the perfect size as my side table/landing strip! I've been looking for various small boookshelves, but this will be so much better... will join two other small ones 2x4 (one serves as a dresser in bedroom, other as my dining room's buffet) and the big 5x5 :D I love this series!

Grrrr...no Ikea in my new state and the shipping for the expedit we want to use as a tv stand is almost three times the cost of the shelf. Why Ikea, why???
