We are enamored with the Stacking Dressers that Alex posted yesterday on Ohdeedoh. We think this design from Landscape Products is good for everyone — it's super-versatile for a variety of configurations and appropriate for nearly any room in the house...

And it lets you take advantage of vertical space — something that is always on my mind in my small but high-ceilinged apartment.
Made from White Ash, it appears each Tree Cabinet dresser unit is about $884 (81,900 Yen) at Japanese shop Chigo. Via: OhdeeDoh.
How tall are these? The top photo makes it look like you'd have to be a giant to get into the top drawers.

Great concept. Lotsa dough, though.

yes, quite awesome. lots of dough for these, but not tough at all to retrofit a set of cheaper dressers with the A-shape.

Or you could just get a vintage highboy dresser off Craigslist for well under $1000

Now THAT is clever. Especially for kids (certain pre-teen girls come to mind) who are constantly rearranging their rooms--with help, of course. Or when you send one of them off to college and they need storage--but not that much--for their first apartment. They could take one section and you could keep the others for the guest room/office that used to be their bedroom.

Who in their right mind would pay over $2500 for this? I can understand if each piece was say $70-$200, but $884 apiece is outrageous.
I usually like wood pieces, but I'm not digging this. It all needs to be painted or bare wood and stained, not wood carcass and painted drawers. And if it is all painted, it wouldn't have to be made of expensive ash. Make it out of pine for $200 or pressed wood for $50 or so and sell it at Target and it might be cool.

It's too expensive, but the idea is great. I'm constantly rearranging my spaces. And I'm always looking for modular furniture, because I move a lot and usually do the move myself. I think it looks cool, too.

I like these, but how to you get the top one on, well, the top? Do you have to hire really tall people to do the lifting?

I would be tempted to stack them to the ceiling.

do they come with a matching ladder? unless the photo is deceptive, you maybe able to open the top drawer, but can't possibly access it or even see the contents...

In the top drawers, maybe you put out of season clothing or blankets or other stuff you don't use on a regular basis. And then when you need it, you pull out a step stool or stand on a chair.
What... no one else has storage above eye level?
