This sofa sleeper from French company Ligne Roset is brand new for 2009 — I got to see it in person after it was delivered to the Park Avenue South showroom and I was very impressed. Unassuming in presence, I wasn't even aware it WAS a sleeper sofa at first — until a pull on the back cushion started the smooth transformation from sofa to bed.
The Mostra has one of the easiest transitions from sofa to bed I've ever experienced. It uses a patented Lampolet mechanism that takes care of the heavy lifting. Remarkably, all the cushions stay on the sofa as it transforms to a bed — meaning you don't have to have a place to store them.
As a sofa, it is quite firm but still comfortable. This is a pricey, but high quality sofa bed. It would be ideal for someone who normally has difficulty transforming a sleeper.
The solid color upholstery shown here is rather plain, but Ligne Roset has many colorful solids and patterned upholstery to choose from — they're French, after all! All cushions have removable covers.

The One Night Stand from Blue Dot is still my favorite!

Very tidy in the way the cushions don't require removal and aren't the sleeping surface...
...but those by American Leather (available in Fabric and Leather) are about 1/3-1/2 the price, come in 9 styles, and I understand are amazingly comfortable.

How I wish Select Comfort still made their sofabed model! No bar to cut into your back, no plastic feeling of an air mattress...
