where in ny would one get yuzen paper. please don't say kate's, which each year has less paper supplies.

semi-relatedly, does anyone have a suggestion for a source of pretty/hip office supplies? cd spindles, binders with sleeves, things like that.

rasil - for fun office supplies, I always start by looking at Muji at MoMA design store and at Bodum. Hope this helps.

I can't help you on the yuzen paper front, but www.seejanework.com has a good selection of cute office supplies.

also, New York Central is a fantastic art supply store that has a large paper selection. It's a favorite among NYC artists, past and present, including Willen DeKooning.

And The Center for Book Arts is full of paper resources and are very helpful.

I wish there was more of a selection of great, modern office supplies--staplers, tape dispensers, etc. I'm aware of what's been mentioned, as well as museum stores in general, but it seems like there should be more and I have done searches online for this stuff. I've got the dorky, industrial-looking stuff on my desk at home and would get great pleasure out of some fun, hip stuff (but not a $500 stapler, please.) I may end up with Muji.

thanks everyone for their suggestions. pixie, i agree and i have rather cute mini tape dispenser/mini stapler from muji. but muji is high end, a few people i know have brought back really nice stuff from japan from regular stores. samurai on grand street does carry a few things (i bought some sumptuous folders there) and for reasonable prices. i find see jane work's prices ludicrous, not to say i'm not tempted at times.

i have some cute dewey howard notebooks, i wish he would expand his line!

Have you looked at Kinokuniya? Their NYC store is on W.49th Street (across from Rockefeller Center). The bookstore is downstairs and they have a large selection of paper choices on the second floor. I found gorgeous paper that I've updated my lampshades with.

Check out Kinokuniya's paper selection on the second floor of their bookstore on W.49th St. The store is opposite Rockefeller Center and has a great selection of yuzen and other paper products (including adorable stickers and folders). I redid my lamps using yuzen and love the way they turned out.
