I agree with Maxwell on this one; if you don't do the entire wall, it will look choppy and the room will seem shorter. (Shorter?) (Less tall?)
I would keep the mouldings neutral. Indeed, I would paint the mouldings (picture rails) the same color as the wall and free-hand the wallpaper desing onto the picture rail over the bed so as to provide continuity and disguise the gap.
With all due respect, I would NOT paint the picture rail (moulding) black! For me, it would make for a choppy look and call attention to a single detail rather than enhance the look of the entire room.

On a similar vein, I would like to place fabric on the wall behind my bed but have the same moulding (or picture rail). Any suggestions?
