I hang shoulder bags on hangers in my closet and I put small clutch purses in a low basket on a shelf. I can find everything easily, but this method definitely takes up more room.

Get a length of chain and 'S' hooks from a hardware store. Use a hanger or other means of suspending the chain from the rod in your closet. Use the S-hooks to hang the bags from. Uses vertical, space, keeps things sorted, easy to add new bags.
