>Residential Urinals

I'm not liking this idea... sure it's convenient but come on, why make your bathroom look like a McDonalds restroom?

Besides, if your aim is really so bad that you can't hit the toilet, have a seat.

Because, perhaps, it saves an AMAZING amount of water over the course of a year...

"if it's yellow, let it mellow"... LOL!

That will also save water, but who cares. You can always get one of those split toilet cisterns that allow you to flush a SMALL amount of water for #1, and the FULL flush for #2.

It also saves you from the McDonalds style I mentioned above. But to each his own, if you're THAT into concervation, go for it.

Also I think it sometimes makes sense space-wise. We have a very small half bath in the downstairs of the house we bought last November. When I sit down my knees rub against the facing wall and I feel ridiculous. When I renovate this bathroom I definately plan to put in a urinal instead of toilet.

When I told a neighbor about this she said making female guests and family go to the upstairs bathrooms was sexist.

Also, the half bath is right off the dining area, so I figure putting in a urinal this will keep anyone from "polluting" the area which could be socially embarrassing at gatherings/dinners.

Good point! But hold on a minute... what if someone at your party is having an "emergency" and they rush into your WC and see only a urinal?

Imagine this embarassing situation, when they have to ask you where the TIOLET is. Saving space is cool, but maybe not that big a deal.

:)

On a side note, the one with the lid isn't too bad, looks nice actually.

I'd never put one anywhere *instead* of a conventional toilet. But I could see one in a separate "WC" area of a master bath. It's on my list of items on the first custom build/reno I get to do.

And, Pete, don't you pee anywhere other than at McDonald's? There are urinals at *good* restaurants, too! ;)

LOL! Good point.

On a side note, here is a wierd urinal that might be a good conversation starter, or just wierd out your guests:
