I've seen people wallpaper them and they look great if you do a fun print!

The most creative I've seen was in a faux finish book a number of years ago. "They" did an exquisite ragged effect in deep blue/green/gold, with a high gloss finish, removed the top drawer, put in a "shelf" of some sort and used that top part as a showcase for 2 beautiful vases. They's painted the inside of that space a chinese red. It was wonderful...
