well, there are great pictures at stuffonmycat.com of cats who got into those boxes and then got out only to discover the wonders of static cling .... personally if you have the space I'd put them in plastic bags and save them. They are expensive but make great packing material for fragil packages.

I save some to reuse. But the bulk of my packing peanuts I give to my local UPS store, which is delighted to use them again.

If they're the starch ones that dissolve with water, you can always make fun sculptures or crafts, be it with your kids or for your own pleasure. It's earth friendly building blocks.
