There already is a tea-making device with all the ease of a drip coffee machine. It's called a teapot.

I use my coffeemaker to make tea, I just put teabags in it instead of coffee/filters

I just heat the water in the microwave, or in a saucepan on the stove.

yes, i use my coffee pot too.
also, for an even easier way to make tea, put a big glass jar out in the sun with some teabags. The sun will brew the tea for you AND it "solar-powered" which means no electricity!
Here in Tennessee we call it "sun tea" and we love our iced tea around here!

I use a $15 electric kettle from Target. It heats up in under 2 minutes, though it sounds like jet engines. I save my pennies for nicer tea.

My flatmate in the UK back in the 1990s had something very similar (though not sure if it was a 'dripping' machine) that she could set as an alarm clock to wake up to the smell of freshly brewed tea. I believe it was called a Teasmade.

black tea should be brewed with water at a rolling boil. I'm not sure if this would ever get that hot.

Did not the Mrs Tea come out in the early 80's for this very purpose? Just saying...

no no no.....as a tea drinker from that little island this is just wrong wrong wrong. Put a little milk in first, when the kettle is boiling drop the t-bag in and pour your water in then let it infuse until its the strength you want. Yep the last bit can be a bit varied, but that is part of the fun.
If you have builders in put at least 3 sugars in the cup for authentic "British builders tea"...... ;-)
Machines are for coffee NOT for tea....
