How to Store Fruits and Vegetables
From The Kitchn: Our sister site that promotes cooking & eating at home

A good question from a reader with not enough refrigerator space: What's the Best Way to Store Fruits and Vegetables? We applaud him for cooking more at home then discuss attractive options for storing our fruits and vegetables out in the open. This Peach Storage System may not be entirely practical, but it's interesting.

Click for more from The Kitchn, including this week's recipes, our favorite new oil, and the best way to cook a steak.

Well there sure will be quite a few bitter comments on this thread from people about this girl's weight. Face it. She looks good. Not sure what is being sold but sure got my attention.

Btw her and the heringbone floors I am ready to sign.

that's probably because she has to use a ladder to access her food ;-)

yeah, I don't get the whole anti-efficiency thing... the ladder is supposed to be space saving? The wall baskets on the other hand are very cool.

michaelc - you'd seriously buy a product because a woman in the ad looks good? and the floors are nice?

wtf? a ladder to reach your food stowed away on a high shelf in what looks like an otherwise empty room? how about a table?

Wait, there a ladder in that picture?

Is the design supposed to evoke the idea of picking the fruit from the tree?

This design won't work for me as it's hard enough to remind myself to eat more fruit even when it is in a bowl on the dining table. What about all the fruit on the bottom, could they end up forgotten and rot?

she looks perfectly healthy to me...and hot. I'll take two! Seriously, I would like it without the ladder. I don't have a lot of table surface to store fruit and bread so this would be a welcome solution. As would the model. cheers.

As expected...

kittyj, there is a certain design element here along with eye opening marketing. Regardless of the demographic they may or may not want to target they are successful with their efforts.

I have not had a good fight with Patrick in a while. I think we are do for one..

Let me re state my comment.
Buttery muffins
A beautiful steak
Awesome looking prosciutto
Herringbone floors
Good looking woman

I'll be back in 10

haha, this discussion rocks so far. I love the fact you can't see this girls face, she could have no teeth, crossed eyes and a face full of acne...I guess you could always close your eyes or stick with the side you can see. The floors are fantastic. The fruit and veg storage is clunky.

no offense Snot (top poster) but you sound like a Debbie Downer. I looked at your post profile and they're all kind of just negative posts. Share some love sometimes! :)

I'm so into the no teeth look. Hot.

It could be cool if you mounted it lower so it didn't require the ladder.... Or not. I am obviously such a girl, b/c the first thing I noticed were her boots! Love!

There is a bear lose in this woman's home and she needs to store her food out of reach. I do the same while camping.

the ridiculousness of the fruit storage, the tired fashion cliche of the mini and boots--- maybe it's my 30 rock detox speaking, but all I could think was: Cerie! zomg it's you!

Sorry to sound like the bitter fat girl here, but what's with all the gratuitous cheesecake shots on AT lately? It seems like you could barely enter the Jan. Jumpstart unless you were wearing paint-splattered hot pants or were bent over in a mini skirt (in which case, good luck to anyone looking for the shot of your finished project) and now this? Is this some new marketing ploy? Or am I really just the bitter fat girl?

It looks like a decent way to keep food out of the paths of roaches and mice.

Snicker, you don't have to be a bitter fat gal to object to the cheesecake shots of women's bodies - perhaps someone thought AT was too gay (is there such a thing?) and is trying to straighten it up.

All of you guys are too funny. As a gay dude, I vote for more dudes. LOL. As a slim and fit man that loves to eat, I can say that your appearance all comes down to your eating habits and exercise. Don't hate on the broad, she probably has a very healthy eating habit but also works out. Try it sometimes, it works!
Anyway, the baskets are neat. I suppose you can hang them to whichever height you desire.

P.S. I've been tempted many times to buy that walnut oil when I see it in the store. What's it good on/for? I haven't come across any recipes that calls for it.

The walnut oil is good on pretty much everything, but salads, roasted veggies, and pasta especially. Just drizzle a little over - it adds a nice roasted taste and a kick of umami.
