Daily Poem:
- To N, in absentia" by Robyn Sarah

Urinarios? Yes, great word. Yes, HIGHLY offensive. And I'm no zealot nor prude, but that is very VERY wrong.
Oh, and could have done without the demo photo for the Female Urinal.
The female urinal is really no different than using a regular public toilet. Except you don't have to squat down as far to hover over it. And yes, we could have figured out how to use it without the graphic photo!
Urinarios? Reminds me of the lips urinals that Virgin installed and then de-installed because ppl were up in arms about the imagery.

I played on theball.co.uk yesterday. Nice concept but the whole design of the retracting stabilizing legs looks overly complex and looks likely to break easily despite the durability testing. My sister in the UK has the contra-rotating drums washing machine from Dyson and the impact resistant plastic trim snapped pretty easily.
I do think the concept is great though and love the fact that the motor is housed in the ball.
Haha - I didn't even click thru to the lady urinal. Looks like the demoer still has her underwear on. Does that make it a little more, um, palatable?
Hmmm, this is a little more of a urinal theme than I was really looking for today. Or any day, really.
it's not that offensive - humorous actually
You can have your very own original 1953 female urinal for just under $800.

Honestly, you see more than that on the cover of Maxim or FHM these days. Maybe I'm just crazy-risque, but it's just a hip with a pair of undies. JMO.
Um, I believe there seems to be a "visible stream", isn't there? That's the only part I was objecting too on the Fe-urinal pic.
Hmm, I didn't catch that the first time. It looks like there could be, but because she also appears to have underwear on her hip, I assumed it wasn't. Now I'll just block it out and not think about it...
The person has underwear on and what appears to be her stream, is in fact the edges of the transition point on the far side that matches the same on the near side. Due to the many advantages of urinals for males, there is constant spectulation that if women could use a urinal in a simular fashion to men, it would cut down on water usage, lines in women's rooms, improve the general cleaniness of a woman's facility, use less space making room for more urinals, lower installed costs as well as lower operating costs, and the list goes on. I suggest you see for a detailed disertation on the subject.
Inspite of some of you feeling the subject offensive, if progress is to be made on such a device and realize the advantages, a serious understanding of the female's urinary process, urodynamics and social concerns needs to be fully studied and realized. I have seen any number of these devices dating back to before the 1950s and not one of them deals with all the issues needed for these to become a common success in the women's rooms of the future. It is bad enough that many men can't get it all in a urinal, and the woman poses a much greater complexity in collecting all of her pee in such a device. We further confuse or limit the discussion by assuming that to use a urinal implies standing on the part of the women. Lots more I could say on this subject.
I am so completely offended by the urinarios photo. How it has spoiled this site for me...

I do not like them. I don't care a fig about the juvenile sexual imagery, but how could you put these in a public building? They are intended to offend people.

That someone in the world felt it necessary to take another religion's symbolism and degrade it for their own enjoyment is not shocking, but that you would post it and then send it out to your email list as an example of "good design" has lowered my opinion of this newsletter from something I looked forward to the moment it was in my inbox to something I am mortified that I ever recommended to my acquaintances.
There could have been no doubt in your mind of how offensive the photo of "Urinarios" could be, so I must assume your intent was to weed out your audience from those irksome individuals who actually believe in tolerance and respect towards other people's beliefs. With me at least, you have succeeded.

I would really love to see people pissing in sculptures of priests rather nuns, because men have ALREADY been pissing and shitting on women since the dawn of "humanity"....not surprised that these urinals are from Spain. In my view, they are a woman-hating machismo culture, and this is just another violent image for the pea brained men of this world who already have violent thoughts about womankind. Apartment Therapy, could you please find a toilet shaped like the open mouth of a man...I'd love to have one for my big, steamy morning dumps!!!!
