I love Witold Rybczynski. I have "Home" at home -- it was required reading for a design class and I've kept it ever since...
One of Apple's (many) brilliant ideas was to have their headphones be white. It is SUCH a trademark for them and iPod users. I have even seen white headphones as a lifestyle detail in TV commercials not about Apple or anything computer/audio related.
I have the first iPod, and I threw away the headphones unopened because I didn't want white ones when black ones would blend in with my clothes so much better.

I like how the cops list "boom-box radios" on their list of things theives target. I haven't seen anyone carry one of those around for a good long time...
