Thank you Patrick! I thought this ironically appropriate for a design flavored website
"It is only shallow people who do not judge by appearances"
BTW, I checked out the bluedot clock (buried under the goodies link) and it is a clever idea but I was a little disappointed in the execution. Apropos the Dorian Grey quote, the appearance let me down.
Google maps...amazing
Sat. imagery has been utilized by other services in the past (map quest) however they never did a really good job at it, and since 9.11 civilian sat imagery capabilities have been severely hindered.
I used to be able to make out my car once upon a time with out a problem. However, the image was always somewhat depleted and grainy. After the new regulations went in to place (which also hinder all civilian gps devices) I could barley make out my roof top, with the same poor image quality to boot.
However google maps...the quality is on near par with mil spec and the end result is a clear easy to read sat photo and with a click of a button a
street map overlay. It has the same zoom capabilities as the othersÂ…but wow. Others have tried but it's never been so easy to read in the past.
Best part is you can drag the map across the screen and it moves across to show you the new section seamlessly.

and the resolution is, I would say, one order of magnitude better than the google maps which would have been ideal. I find myself trying to zoom just one more time. As it is, the ease of use more than makes up for it.
That's the thing about google. They don't invent stuff that is mindblowingly unique or technically amazing, they simply make stuff that much better and easier to use. They answer the questions that we wish we had asked.
Sorry, meant to say that I bought the above book
Oh and I can't wait to try the bluedot clock at home - alas flash sites are disabled on our corporate network
Happy Oscar Wilde Arrested for Sodomy Day!
Spring is in the air!!
