I am on an eternal search for the best shoe storage solution for my long, narrow hallway (once featured here as a "good question") and I thought I had, at long last, found my solution! Some sheet metal with a few bends in a brake & screwed to the wall. Definitely not worth $150..... Wonder how much it would cost to have it custom made by an architectural sheet metal shop...probably a lot less than that and it would fit the measurements of your space. Find a roofer/sheet metal worker and show them a picture.

Those shoe racks look kind of like something that Ikea has (or at least used to have) for about $15 or so.
