What inspired you?
We are inspired by the homes of our friends and peers: seeing their spaces and sensing their individuality and unique interpretations of space planning and organization. We love modern furniture mixed in with for example my great grandmother's chrome kitchen table and the rolling book shelving unit that my father built.

... Our dog also inspires us: we have to find a way to make our space comfortable for him as well. The "den" like space underneath the platform bed is a favorite of his and the quilt covered couch is another much loved snoozing spot. We love seeing how people take pieces of furniture and alter them in order to suite their own needs.

Design Tip:
I think furniture that is raised off the floor allowing one's eye to see more floor always helps and in my particular space it gives more surface for the only light coming in to reflect further into the space. Three pieces we currently use were bought at an used office furniture warehouse for around 5 bucks a piece! We found pieces with simple lines and nice proportions (a friend even found a wooden credenza very closely resembling a knoll credenza), and they have a tremendous amount of storage space making it easier for us to hide some things we use on a daily basis along with a lot of other necessities.

Another U-Boat floorplan. Looks like you have made the best of it though.
Only suggestion I could make would be a small curtain to hide those grey and blue plastic boxes above the door.
wow, i can't believe that's only 450 square feet. what a great layout! me? i'd want something soft and fluffy under the coffee table, but nicely done.
Very nice. I like the fact you let the dog sleep on the couch, and he has his own basket of toys proudly displayed. This is a comfy, REAL little home.
the platform bed is lovely, where is it from?
Beautiful space! Is there anyway you can hide your storage bins over the door? Sliding doors? Simple fabric? Other than that, you're space is charming. It's a really cozy space and I love Measure - he's such a cutie pie. Love the floors, brick exposure, green paint... Such a nice city nest.

Doggie!!!! Okay, couldn't resist. I'm a dog person. Anyway, I like the feel of this a lot--and the orange rug/picture in the bathroom.
I love that you manage to have a clean, minimalist look, yet I'm still absolutely convinced that real people live there. Great job using such a weirdly shaped space too!
Hey V,
That looks like the Case Study Fastback Bed from Modernica (dot net).
Great space, I like it when you can tell real people live there.
Ditto Fritz's suggestion about the storage area. Just a tension rod and a linen curtain would do wonders for the whole space.
Lovely.
hey,
really cute place! my only suggestion would be maybe to put up something to divide/hide your bed space from the living.. if thats do-able.. iono just a suggestion.. other than that its great!...and honestly dont worry too much about the storage bins being exposed. I'm guessing that its above eye-level view, although I'm not 100% sure. cute doggie too :P
After seeing this, I wish I could have entered my old apartment in Somerville, MA 3 years ago. Mine was less space - split in half and folded -laid out in a split rectangle and my husband and I used the same style to lay out our very small amount of great personal items...You are so on key with this, it is uncanny. What a wonderful space:
--2 more plants - add a tall leafy narrow one in a very rustic and clean pot to the left of the credenza (or right if it can't fit),
--and add some interest on the table (a taller rosemary potted - maybe something blooming seaonsally), then,
--put a sweet little something on the other white cupbord - succulent would be easy. Then, it would be perfect.
Amazing. All this considering there is only one window.
A cute area rug under the coffee table and some bright fabric covering the storage bins would do a great deal. Maybe use some leftover fabric as a valance over the window? I really like this place.
I'm liken the angles of the wall they create just enough balance that leads the eye through the space without the shotgun effect. The slim storage at the entrance to the bathroom works well. Hey! the storage bends above work for me, clean line storage above eye level is functional overall design priceless..........
HOME! Both cozy and lovely. And having a pooch myself, I absolutely appreciate how you've incorporated Dog. (What's his name, for heaven's sake?) I love your bed. Tell your dad that he's to come to my place at once and build me a rolling bookcase, too.
Sometimes entries look fabulous but cold, or home-ily cluttered and not fabulous, but this apartment hits a perfect balance.
The only problem I have with the storage bins is that they're, well, ugly storage bins. I think they'd look great up there if they were attractive storage bins. . . . That's a made-to-order nook up there for them.
Au
Sabrina...you always did have a way of making the most out the space you have! Nicely done!! What a CUTE little apartment. I love how you have Measure's basket of stuff out for him to get to!
awesome. simply awesome.
Bravo and well done. Can't believe that is only 450 sq. ft.
Wow, it looks so good, I can honestly click "Wow! Insta-finalist!" without reservation. I look forward to sleeping on that awesome couch when I come to visit. I'm jealous; so is my office cubicle mate. Can you come work some of that magic on my 300 SF Atlanta apartment?
Looks like an Alabama boykisser lives there. Where's all the power T's and vols pictures?
Today the smallest coolest apt in NYC tomorrow
