Name: Seth Herzog
Location: Flatiron District
Size of Home: 175 sq ft.
What would you expect to see in this contest?
"I expect to see alot of Ikea furniture in some really small apartments!
I also hope to see people who have overcome, or have used, the precieved handicap of having a very small apartment and made it extremely livable."
Bio: Seth, one of NY's most prominent downtown comedians, has the additional distinction of calling himself the "Master of a very tiny, but super sweet domain." His a 12'x5' studio apartment was the subject of William Doble & Toby Miller's film, "Zog's Place."

I'm surprised p(too) hasn't yet given a hearty hello to Mr. Herzog!
I can't believe The Hottest State is being made into a movie!
I wanna see some pics of Seth's place!
Okay, I was in a meeting...
HELLO, Mister Herzog!
He can master my sweet doamin any time. :)
There's that heartily expected welcome from p(too)!
p(too), he can master both yours AND mine any time!
Has anyone else checked out the trailer for Zog's Place?
12' x 5'? Hardly enough room to turn around....
Unless you meant 12' x 15', in which case 175 sq. ft. is right....
I noticed too that the square footage doesn't match the dimensions given. And if it is 12'x5', he's not living in an apartment, he's living in a hallway!
whoops... got all nervous.. "domain."
Watch the Trailer for Zog's Place - he really does live in a closet. A kind of nasty one.
Happy to get him out of the closet.
From the glimpses in the trailer, Zog's Place will send the anti-clutter mavens running berserk through the streets, screaming "Edit! Edit! Edit!"
What a comedian. We all know the deal with manhattan real estate.
I'm still completely ambivalent about his credentials to be a judge.
One thing I'm sure of: it is probably a hoot to listen to his deconstruction of the contenders.
Where's that skin-thickening cream in all my mess?
jeeeeeezus!
he lives in the smallest uncoolest!
Patrick = as winner of last years contest, were you invited to be a judge? I would love to see a glam head-shot of you.
Hey, now you mention it, I want p(too) as a judge!
1. He has firsthand experience with creating a successful small space.
2. He has a documented track record of being knowledgeable about design without being snobbish about it.
3. He knows what works for him, but he's shown appreciation for styles quite divergent from his own apartment.
4. His writing is a joy to read.
Any way to watch the movie? I watched the trailer and it looks morbidly fascinating!
I back JenPDX's & Wende's nomination of P2 as a judge in this year's Smallest/Coolest Contest.
In addition to being knowledgeable, articulate, kind, and open-minded in his online comments, he offers that occassional dash of mischievous humor that's appreciated.
Paul - I can't believe they are making a movie out of that book either. They must be hard up for ideas.
Seen the movie. know and love the man. it is a genius space that has nothing to do with shades of beige and how they work with italian lighting. it is zog's brain spilling over and that in itself has bizarre and valuable beauty.
No, no - HELLO--how does he qualify to be a judge? Definitely not a coolest space.
He definitely has a cool apartment.
It gets a nice breeze.
It smells like socks, but in a very good way.
He also has a Beachcombers sign in very good condition. I doubt he'll sell it, but make him an offer.
p(too), thanks for the good hearted laughs.
I think anybody who "wins" or is even a finalist should be a judge the following year. (If they want to be.) Then apartmenttherapy can pick 2 or 3 more judges to round out the panel/committee.
I would love to see the film "Zog's Place", but I can't seem to find it anywhere.
I actually used to live in a place the same exact size as his.
