Gorgeous, with a lived-in-eclectic vibe through and through. Both of your personalities resonate, but the apartment lacks a bit of that WOW factor. You can blame part of that minor quibble against the state of ownership.

In any case, wonderful job, and it's clearly a loved-in space.

The decals are gorgeous - where did they come from?

i thought this place was really cute, but now i kinda love it because you engineered those sliding doors to have a bigger dance floor. my kind of people.

LOVE this space! every color and texture is so beautifully layered. very cool patterns and fabrics, it all works together in such a great way. and the sliding doors are an ingenious way to transform the space. love how they're juxtaposed with the brick. fun yet cozy space with elements that pop. it has it all!

The utilization of space with so much decor is truly a work of art!

Love the sliding doors and of course the animal print rug on the floor. I also love how they've taken a small space and sectioned off each area to compartmentalize their needs.

wish we could see images of the kitchen...completely envious of your adler credenza (sigh). you've done a great job making a smaller (but NOT really) space seem palatial.

beautiful photos of a great space...i am green with envy for the jonathan adler credenza, which i had eyed for so long (but could not get myself to buy when i realized the price had jumped significantly last august/september or so)...in any event, your home is lovely, warm, lived-in and stylish.

would love to see photos of the kitchen, which seems to be quite large.

on a constructive note, have you considered replacing the barney-purple seating? not crazy about the color, especially in that space...generally, i'm not crazy about sofas without arm rests either - they just don't seem like comfortable every day seating...

Not to be neg, but I don't like the small houseplants. You need something large and a little over the top. Some palms or ficus tree would do.

the useage of space, adding the sliding doors to close off the bedroom is so smart. you have some really nice, high quality pieces, combinded with quirky details. its very interesting and well put together.

I love the sliding panels and the amount of natural sunlight that flows through your living area! I agree with others I simply love the decals and the coffee table!

Great space, especially the sliding panels! I also would love to have more info on how you made them. Where did you get the materials? What kind of track does it have? How difficult was it to build/install? I'm thinking of doing something similar but the pre-made options are very expensive. Did you just buy sheets of plastic, and if so, how did you make the door frames?

Your spider plant loves the spotlight. It crawled from the shelves in the living room to the bedroom dresser to get in that last shot. Maybe it just needed more light!

- the paint color is Farrow and Ball; London Stone [for EVMissy].
- yes, the wall decals are from BLIK [thanks cat bluetoes]
- my first choice for a sofa would include arms, but both sofas happen to be armless. They were both had for an amazing price [OK, free. One from a former job- Todd Hase, and the 'Barney purple'/magenta is from Dune]. That said, I cannot wait to have it re-upholstered in a nice neutral color, but for now…
BTW, an armless sofa is not as uncomfortable as you might think. Just use the toss pillows for head support when you lay down. Plus, the lack of arms allows more peple sit when entertaining. [for BK]

as a general rule of thumb apartmenttherapy, should we not have more than 2-3 pics for these posts? i want to see the kitchen, bathroom...everything. there have been tons of posts lately where they show 2-3 shots of the living room and that's it.

LOVE the 3rd pic in the bedroom- color combo, wall treatment- it all works very well together.

Marley, thanks for the color name! I don't know that I can get my hands on Farrow & Ball, but looking through the chips I already had I found some Benjamin Moore chips (Alapca and Yosemite Sands) that I hadn't considered before that could be very close.

Yes, the JA credenza has one adjustable shelf on the left side [holds stereo eqip. DVD, etc] and three drawers on the right side. We drilled a hole in the back for the electrical stuff.

Beautiful space. I especially love the partition wall. It has everything...privacy, translucency (good for letting light into railroad apartments), mobility/flexibility, and (key for small spaces) built-in storage! My one suggestion (and I happen to know that DWR sells a perfect one) would be to add a big mirror on one of the empty walls. Could look sweet next to the Adler cabinet, and would amplify the light and space. Nice!

Marley and Todd: Sorry I got on this late (West Coast time) - but no one mentioned your very cool chest of drawers in your bedroom. I love your whole place but especially that chest - where did you find it?

The love nest is a fantastic mix of Marl & Todd's talents.
Once you enter the door you immediately want to move in. The apartment feels large and airy due to the clever sliding doors, tall bookshelves and key pieces of furniture for entertaining and storage. I like that they created a wonderful home that is homey, functional, a great place for parties and also for privacy. Please come over to my house soon... I need decorating tips.

Your apartment is so cozy and inviting. Nice use of the long space. My favorite elements are the zebra rug, the pillows, the purple sofa, the coffee table and the flying bird sculptre (mirror?) over the dresser. Nice mixture color and texture throughout. The living room photos have a calming effect on me. I'd love to hang out there.

Love to combination of functionality and design. It's difficult in a NYC apartment to have a balance of the two elements. Dividing the space with those amazing sliding doors and bookshelf, allowing the natural light to shine through is brilliant. I also enjoy the subtle accents of colors running through the apartment.

what is that bird/sun-ray thing above the dresser? forgive me, but it is tacky. i do like the sliding doors and the bookshelf across from it, for their usefulness and attractiveness.
