What is the advantage of SMALL? You are forced to edit your processions and, more importantly, evaluate the necessity and value of the possessions you do have. Objects, furnishings and art take on a significant purpose in a way that does not occur with bigger spaces...

I love all the art.

Lovely, but pictures aren't diverse enough. What about a bedroom shot or kitchen shot?

Cozy and inviting. Beautifully arranged. Books, art, comfy furniture make me want to go in there and stay a while.

This space is absolutely beautiful, filled with personality and charm. (And books! Ones that are treated like actual books, not a decorating problem to be sorted by color or some such nonsense.) I'm sure you'll be criticized for not showing more rooms, and I would have liked to see more, too, but I'm voting super-cool anyway.

Nice space....it's a little too "cozy" for me but I liked it enough to vote super cool!

I love the dedication to the art! And this is a great example of how vignette shots are supposed to work. The first shot shows how powerful that corner is, then pulling back you realize that it is only a part of the whole; yet it works either way.
I also wish you had shown us how the bedroom works, but most of the rest of the space is great! Not my style, but cohesive and personal. And bless you for your bookshelves! Books are the enemy of those drawn to small apartments!

Cate,
Your wall color choice looks very serene. Do you mind sharing the color, I've been looking for the perfect soft gray for a few weeks now, thanks! Congrats on making the most out of a tiny place.

I loved it when it was featured here before - but I'd like to see more pix of the other rooms before giving it a "Super Cool"

Lots of lovely art and items, but I think there are too many for any one to get its due emphasis. With a bit of editing I'd love it.

i love this space! it is so cozy and wonderful and i love all your art! and i love your slogan that less isn't always more. so refreshing not to see another mid-century museum. i love how your furniture is all light colored to allow the art work to really stand out. it looks to inviting and comfy and like it might be full of some beautiful undiscovered secrets. i only wish i could have seen more...

This apartment was featured in a house tour recently.

I still really like it, though.

Very nice. I remember liking this home during the home tour a while back as well. There is a cozyness and individuality about it that I enjoy. And although I tend not to like homes with a lot of stuff, here, everything seems to be unique and melds together well.
I love the dining room. Would you mind sharing where you found those black laquer chairs and beautiful black/white table?
Super cool from me.

I knew I had seen this place before (and not in person); glad others remembered it as well. I kind of like this and I'm a minimalist. I wouldn't want to live with so much stuff, but it appears to be a relaxing environment for you. The overall tone is very peaceful and soothing.

this gets my "super-cluttered" vote

i love the living room, youve managed to arrange everything so that it doesnt look too cluttered (to me anyways!). Great job!

I love this entry . . . it looks chic and easy to live in.

Cool! Reminds my of homes here in Belgium, I don't know why, maybe it's the chair in the corner. And the art. Anyway, I wanted to buy those candlesticks from cb2 but thought they would break on the way home. They look great here.

Really nice and comfortable. I like the the fact that your bookshelves give a library-look by being actually filled with books that don't look like decorative items.

I wanted to see the bedroom and the kitchen, but I love this so much! Very modern without being "MODERN". Awesome.

yea for not being "MODERN!"

I love it, your space is inspiring. As an avid art collector/lover, I always want to get more but am never sure where I'm going to put it all. Your space showed me that there are LOTS of places to put art and I shouldn't be so intimidated! Thank you!

I like your stuff. It's interesting. I think some smaller living room furniture would better suit your space. I'm drooling over your wall of shelving with the books and records on it. Your floorplan, rather than your photos, showcases your small space.
I voted voted "cool"; however, if I hear the word "eclectic" one more time I'm going to scream! I didn't think people could describe their own tastes as eclectic...

i love this entry. where did you get the yellow print pillows on your sofa?

I like this place a lot. I followed the link to the house tour and that did allow me to get a better sense of the place, but I guess that's kind of against the rules.
Anyway, I'm really amazed by how well everything in your apartment works so well together even though each piece -- be it your sofa, the artwork, your books, etc. -- is very different. It's almost like you planned it that way, but really it's the way you placed everything. I love it. I especially like the corner with the tray table. It just feels so great.
By the way, where did you get (or who makes) your sofa? It just looks so inviting. Also, you mention a place called "1stDibs" that you use as a resource. I'm in Manhattan as well and was wondering what kind of place that is. Maybe antiques? Just curious.
Best of luck.

A little too precious for me. Like a staged house for a magazine. Do you really live there?
I'd love to have seen the rest of the place.
There is a lot that works, though.
Perhaps if it weren't all so symmetrical.
I do like how some things seem aged. Nice use of texture.

Where is this center white vase from? Anyone know? I've seen it different places and always wonder where you can get it.

Love it!
So cozy and chic--love all the items/ details touches of blue and yellow.
The dining table shot threw me a bit--That bold poster and those chairs; it just felt like it was a picture from someone else's apartment got in there somehow

Kudos for the use of hi/low and for "real" living. But for my taste there's way too much going on in the way of art. It would be better to keep a rotating pared-down collection, I think.
