Profession: Architect. Michi and her partner, Yen Ha, are the principals behind Front Studio, one of the only Asian-women owned architectural partnerships in NYC. We spotted their work early on in 2004, loved their aesthetic and have been tracking them since.

Best Use of Space:

After designing small bathrooms in NYC for years, I've always wondered why they don't make these slim toilets w. sinks and sinks here (above); they've been around for at least a few decades in Japan. And in looking for a photo, I found the slim sink (only protrudes 3 7/8" from the wall)!

Boy could I have used this in a few of my projects.

Japan is known for its bathroom design from fixtures to layout. Many professional designers specialize in bathrooms.

frontstudio--beautiful work, lovely website. that toilet, above, would make sense for about 90 percent of washington dc apartments, too. wonder what the water usage is like.
