Small Cool 2009: Hosien's Contemporary Chic
Little Division #40

thumbs up

Who Lives Here: Hosien
Location: Bronx, New York City
Size: 665 square feet

What is your one favorite element in your small, cool home? My favorite elements of my home is the open space and natural light all day long, the great view of the Hutchinson River, and the changes of the four seasons from my living room’s window and terrace. The layout is well distributed, is very spacious and has lots of closet space, even though having lots of storage is never enough.

What was one of the biggest challenges you faced in furnishing your small home? The challenge I frequently face is to incorporate a new item with the rest of the furniture and décor to work smoothly and flow through out the whole apartment as if it was always there.

I love the furniture, especially in the LR. I have a lowboy very similar to yours. It's such a nice piece. It's too bad there's not a way you could move it from behind the chair and use it more as a room divider? Maybe move the chair closest to it, but I think the two chairs together is a nice touch. As is the coffee table. A large piece of art would look fantastic above the dining table with that gorgeous flower arrangement and pendant light.

JMO :)

Very nice space! Thumbs up.

Love your media center! It manages to be huge and take care of all your needs without making itself the center of attention, and keeps the TV from being the focal point of the room.

Great space. Functional for all sorts of activities, yet warm, comfortable feel.

Your apartment is very nice... calm and contemporary... but I do agree that a nice piece of art would help pull your dining room together... I'm sure the view from the window is beautiful already but considering in the picture the blinds are closed and the table isn't centered with the window... that white wall stood was the first thing I noticed.

Thanks, I agreed about the naked wall in the dinning, still a work in progress, trying to get the perfect art! :)

To Sreina2: I got the lowboy at IKEA years ago, i dont think thay have the same one and quality that ikea used to have, but im sure thay have something similar. Good luck!

Hosien, your place looks amazing! Don't change a thing. Less is more and you have plenty of beautiful accessories there already. Bamboo Flowers looks great! And the orchids are a great touch.

Great job. I do wish there was some art on the wall. But my boyfriend is an art dealer and I've learned that it is better to wait and buy something special.
Thumbs Up.

This place is absolutely fabulous! You are right about the quality in the ikea furniture it is not what it used to be.

Great job! Everything is very coordinated.

real cute!!! I got this same exact apartment here in Co-op City in the Bronx, but you live in a C building and I live in a A building. Keep it up! I love my apartment too! I see you kept the old bedroom floor which I did too, I didn't want no carpet in their eventhough they gave me the vouchers for one. Would love to see your terrace though. I have mine nicely decorated. Take care!
