Filling the niche that is the affordable sofa which neatly turns into a spare bed, Apt arrived in SoHo just over a year ago. Their stuff is contemporary and stylish, with workmanship and pricing above Ikea and below DWR.
Apt specializes in convertible sofas and they have about 15 styles that convert in all sorts of cool ways. They also sell chairs, accessories and rugs. The main ingredient here is a foam core and the shapes may remind you of Ligne Roset, though they can sometimes turn super cheesy. We recommend picking and choosing your way through, but this is definitely a good resource for the youthful apartment dweller who wants an extra bed in the living room.

I'll admit I was interested in Apt's sofa collection during my search due to their lower prices and modern design but when you see them up close (they have a store in Soho), they really aren't very comfortable and are cheaply made. I don't know how long these would actually last. And God forbid you want a color they don't have in stock, it takes up to 16 weeks (from what I remember, maybe its 10) to get it shipped in.
I do still like their stuff, and probably would have purchased one anyway, but EVERY one I wanted was out of stock!
I like their convertible sofa. The pirce is very reasonable and surely stylish. I just purchased one from them and it fits really well in my place.
there's one in my office -- pretty and comfy. yes, i've lain on it.
I love the stuff they have, but the couch I bought (Innovation's Rollo, with arms that fold down to convert the couch to a twin-size bed) I ended up getting for a couple hundred dollars cheaper at an Urban Outfitters online sale a couple years back.
If you do get one (especially the Rollo), getting or making a cover is totally worth it, as there isn't any good way to clean the cushion that I've figured out.
I bought a chaise lounge there and keep getting compliments on it. It's stylish without making me bankrupt.
I have the sofa bed pictured above. Super cool. Totally love it. I sleep on this everynight in my studio apartment and it feels just like a regular mattress. No bars!!! Delivery was in three days and the whole process was nice and easy.
I bought the Lounge sofa bed in green thats always on the back of Time Out NY. I love the design and everyone always comments on it. It's quite comfortable.
I love Apt's furniture. My entire apartment is furnished with their stuff. It's really simple, yet trendy. The colors just pop and give each room a burst of energy. They're also really comfortable and the different shapes and styles are really great to fit many different spaces. The thing that I love most is how the stuff looks like its really fives times the price it really is!
I own a few pieces from this store. They're comfortable and unique and I get a lot of compliments on them. Apt may be the only affordable store left in Manhattan!
