12-2-clioname.gifAs really good housewares stores in Soho disappear, a new buds bloom. The diminutive Clio Home is a favorite and a lot like its twin double around the corner (Global Table), but it has a fineness and an elegance that separates its plates, glasses, vases and other dinnerware from contention.

The selections here are surprising and mixed, from thin, thin glassware from Eastern Europe to lush, thick plates from Tse-Tse in Paris. You will find much more avant garde designs from hip Dutch designers. Prices are largely between $20-$100.

--great store--

TIP: if you start a registry at Clio (or make a registry purchase), make sure the items are or will likely be in stock. if not you may have to wait a looooooooooong time to get what was ordered. if the recipient gets the gift too late it kind of takes the fun out of giving (and receiving).
