2005_8_29_depression.jpgReporter EC sends in a tip for Depression Modern: "Depression Modern is a super place for deco sofas, side tables, chairs, coffee tables and just about everything 30's & 40's."

The restoration DM does is remarkable. There is always a line on Saturday morning before the store opens at noon, and great muffins and coffee can be found across the street. Call friday (4-5:30) for a list of Saturday inventory. While the furniture style might not fit everyone's taste, the vintage lighting fixtures can fit in anywhere.

NYMag says: There are lacquered surfaces aplenty in this shop full of originals...

OK, I didn't buy my chandelier there, because at the time, I couldn't really afford them, and because I really lucked out and found the very most perfect thing for my place on eBay for an amazing price.

But seriously, this place really did have a great selection of beautiful fixtures, some of which will make you just gasp.

I have been shopping at Depression Modern for many years, and I have nothing but the most positive things to say about it. The pieces are so gorgeous and the prices are so affordable that you will wish you could take home everything you see. The people who work there are also really, really nice to the customers. Every Saturday there are more awesome pieces. So keep going back to find exactly what you are looking for. Depression Modern is truly one of the best stores in New York !

Depression Modern should be on everyone's list when shopping for incredibly stylish furniture at decent prices. The pieces are classic and work well with both modern and vintage interiors. Get their early on Saturdays for the best selection.
