We believe that your home should make you happy. Thus begins Jonathan Adler's Manifesto. Maxwell first met Mr. Adler at a friend's wedding years ago, and says he was memorably charming AND restless. Well, apparently all that energy was well-channeled, as Jonathan Adler now has nine of his own flagship stores filled to the brim with lamps, pillows, accessories and furniture...
What does he do best? It's hard to say. We're big fans of his lighting. His table and floor lamps have splendid organic shapes and excellent colors, and they can fit into almost any room. Of course, his pillows and rugs are also certainly a highlight.
Adler's furniture favors vampy, retro 70's and definitely has a strong flavor that may not be suited to everyone's taste. However, everyone should have at least one Adler in their home, and there's a wealth to choose from: pottery, pillows, tabletop, bedding and throws, lighting, furniture, wall decor and art, and rugs. He also offers full-scale interior design services.

My "one" Adler is a lovely desktop accessory...a blue and white geometric graphic patterned post-it size box. I got it at the Miami Beach Adler shop, which is always empty. And sadly, the staff seems paralyzed with ennui...a feat given the overload of 70s patterns, graphics and brightness of it all....

I really only like the horse. The rest I can live without.

blueyes,
Funny! The Miami Beach Adler store is the only one I've ever been into and I had the exact same reaction. They seemed lonely and depressed somehow. It was a weird retail experience. i bought three cute stripey vases, though.

I really am inspired by the "Happy" concept. I would love to get a better hold on this for my life not just my decor. Is there really a way to be happy? Has Jonathan found the secret? I am going to look into this further.

This just opened in the old Dan Marty Design space on Montana Ave. in Santa Monica.
I would rather have Dan Marty back. This "anti-depressing" living concept is a little too forced for me.

I stopped in the Chicago store a few weeks back and really liked the "Montmartre" cocktail table. Sadly, not in the budget right now...

LOVE Jonathan Adler! I wish I could live at that hotel in Palm Springs that does the Jonathan Adler motif! I can not remember the name, but I LOVE IT!
Thanks for letting me post!

I love JA, too. I scored his ceramic hippo on eBay not too long ago for a pretty deep discount. He's now perking up my entryway. I like how adding anything by JA instantly adds humor to any space. And honestly I think his white ceramic pieces can work anywhere -- even in more traditional spaces.
