Happa Door Stop by Ideaco & Associates
Washington DC

happa_copy-231x162.jpgWho couldn't use a little more luck? A little more green in the home helps too. That's why we love these clover-shaped "Happa" door stops, designed by Ideaco & Associates of Osaka. Happa is the Japanese name for leaf and these door stops are designed in flexible plastic. The Happa door stops come in three different shades of green.

Ideaco is great. I actually contacted them about exporting stuff when we lived in Japan. They have amazing stuff. There is a San Diego-based company that does import their things, but not all.

How flexible is that plastic? I'd hate to accidently step on one. OUCH!

I know those colors, the are the colors of the lids of the Renuzit Tri-scent refills in Morning Meadow...

At the very end of the online ad, they have the lid colors:

Uh, you have to click the link to "learn more" and get the movie.

This has little to do with the doorstops. Just the colors of the doorstops. Sometimes I see these things online and am driven to make the connection, one of those "I KNOW THAT...but yet I don't, I know those COLORS, but they weren't doorstops..."

I'd much rather step on one of those plastic things than this:

The metal teeth don't flex and the teeth go right to the bone, as I found out. But it works great on cats, and also on brushing out the carpet.

Wow, those are the "it" colors this year, that's for sure! In DC, the newly-reopened Source Theatre uses pretty much exactly that lime-green color as the shade for the back wall of their lobby. As you walk down 14th Street it really helps make the entrance pop out from its surroundings. None of my own doors need door stoppers, but maybe they'd be fun wall accents!

They're very pretty. I would caution to only use them on interior doors. I had something similar in flexible rubber and jamming something under my front door destroyed the weather stripping on the door sweep, water came in and damaged the floor... it just never occurred to me beforehand.
