Lunchtime Survey: Saarinen vs. Gehry

6-1-sarfrank.jpg

Who draws your favorite curve? Eero Saarinen & Frank Gehry: Readers continuously fall in love the with efficient design of Saarinen's Tulip chair & table and TWA terminal, while others ooh and aah about Gehry's Bilbao and curving cardboard confections. Both are modern masters in architecture and design who have maintained the beauty of the curve without losing sight of the straight line. (This will run for exactly one hour. Last week's winner: Eames by a hair over Lloyd Wright)

Saarinen hands down for me too, though I really like Gehry's designs. I fell in love with the tulip chair and table when I was 11. Still one of my favorite modernist designs

Saarinen for furniture, but Gehry hands-down for architecture. He will go down as one of the greats in history.
