2-29-room1.jpgIn the depths of our furniture hunting depressions, we have been touched by the many words of encouragement and suggestions. More than once, the name "Room & Board" came up, with links. Clicking through, we found an operation that is clearly looking to elbow its way to the table with the playahs like Crate & Barrel and Restoration Hardware...

The pieces are in classic styles (Arts & Crafts, Mid Century Modern, Asian....,) and can be drop shipped to you in seconds with the fabric combination of your choice, often for not much more than $1,000. The Room & Board web site uses words like "passion" and "inspiration" and "committment."

Not to mention "customer."

We sense the presence of a hard-working MBA behind the scenes. In addition to their thorough site, Room & Board has stores in four mid-western and western states in addition to their large SoHo shop. That should provide a nice break from the prices at Ligne Roset.

I LOVE Room and Board and have purchased a couple items from them. Most recently I bought a beautiful wood bed from their San Francisco showroom. The delivery was actually delayed because the bed I was supposed to get had a scratch and they refused to deliver it to me, now that's customer service. They delivered and set up the whole bed for me and even went through how I should clean and care for the wood. I've always loved their design aesthetic and knowing how good their service is, I'm a client for life!

That's my sofa in the top photo!

I've loved this place for years and have many pieces of theirs (they've been doing midcentury revival long before C&B, etc. got into the game) although I wish they'd bring back the sticker tabs they used to have in the yearly catalog... ;-(

We got a kitchen table from Room and Board in a hard to find 30" width. Two of their table styles can be completely customized, from legs to tops to size. Excellent experience overall - we're saving up for the Wegner Wishbone chairs they carry next.

I could write an ode to R&B.

I fell in love their loring couch and quality. And then their customer service when my couch was delivered with spatter stains. They are letting me keep it until my new one arrives. And now I've bought a dining table, chairs, cabinet, and am considering a buffet. Oh and I'm getting a lamp, too.

Did you know their design consutants are actually designers? They are not just order takers. Some are better than others, but they are all good to excellent. Thus far Amanda is amazing. She has been working with me for several months. Ask for her and say Kim sent you. They are not on commision, by the way.

Another R&B fan here. We have one of the Imagine Duo bunk beds, and some living room furniture. I think they have great quality and style, particularly for the price.

R&B's business model amazes me: well-designed furniture, lots of in-stock items, surprising custom capibility, fast service, smart associates, good value--and most incredibly. a bias for American produced furniture, even case goods!
Just this week I ordered their new Wells 101" studio sofa (special order, 4 weeks). I don't know where else I would have found what I needed, a massive, backless lounger, at a price I could afford. Can't wait!

We have several pieces from Room & Board and have been very happy with the whole experience from start to finish. They have excellent customer service and are coming to fix our Eames plywood lounge chair next week!
