Tim Ho Steel

We're digging these designs by Tim Ho Steel in Hong Kong. They are a custom furniture manufacturer and their forte, as you can see, is stainless steel. Check out that minimalist desk above.

We really love their Dice Table, too, pictured below. It's what got our attention in the first place. Now, we just need to find someone in NYC who produces such stunningly simple wares.

I think that desk is very, very neat. I don't see having it in my own space, but it's fun to look at all the same.

Their website is appalling, but the products are AMAZING. And for what they are, the prices are not outrageous either- actually better than a lot of the mass-produced crap peddled these days [cough-bo-concept-cough]. I just wonder what the cost of shipping from Hong Kong must be like... Sigh, wish they had an outpost in NYC...

How many USD are $36,000.00 HKD?

Sometimes stainless steel fabrication can cost less overseas.

I recently submitted a drawing to a commercial welder for a simple console comprised of stainless steel tubing (also for the same console out of aluminum tubing) and I was surprised at the price. I found out that it wasn't the material that was so expensive (I had priced out the material ahead of time) it was the welding that was expensive. Welding rods and labor. I think it's safe to say labor is a little cheaper in China.

I'm just leery of the quality of many products coming out of China. That's what has kept me from ordering "Euro style" bathroom furniture and fixtures from ebay.

I'd be interested to know if anyone orders something from this company.
