Breeding Tables

5_13_breed.jpgDept. of Technology. Saw these tables in ID and thought that perhaps the time had arrived when computer technology could generate furniture shapes that seem, well... almost sensual.

These Breeding Tables were designed by the young design team of Kram and Weisshaar from computer programs they developed. "Depressed" by the state of furniture design when they visited the Milan show in 2002, this was their reaction:

We went in, took one look around, and became quite depressed, Weisshaar remembers. The furniture seemed to be trapped in a rut, essentially unchanged for 10 yearsno one was integrating technology. Depression soon turned to inspiration. We sat down at the Cadorna station and decided to grow products right then and there.

The Breeding Tables were designed for Moroso and showed at this year's Milan fair. MGR

Whereas I can't get images of spindly, insect-like copulating furniture out of my head. Thanks a lot, young design team.

And you expect me to copulate on that thing? Not even a soft blanket or satin sheets would make that baby comfy.

I think the tables are meant to mate with each other as opposed to facilitating the mating of mammals.

The process is more interesting than the tables. I can see them in some edgy high-end office, but not my house...

first time in years that furniture seems to be cutting edge. Respect.

I would happily copulate on these tables. No matter wheter at the office or at home.

There is rumors that they are doing a book with actar, edited by the guy who also did the Konstnatin Grcic book and Endcommercial. Looking forward
